Eliminating Rear Sag on a Ford Raptor with Air Lift 1000

5/12/2026

The Ford Raptor is built to handle demanding terrain and tough conditions, but even high-performance trucks can start to feel the effects of heavy loads.

For Matthew Olson, that became clear anytime he loaded down his 2022 Ford Raptor with gear or hooked up his boat. One of the biggest examples came while hauling 75 wet bags of mulch in the bed, enough weight to create noticeable rear sag and change the overall feel of the truck.

That’s when he decided to add load support.

The Problem: Rear Sag and Reduced Stability

Before installing Air Lift, Matthew noticed the rear of the truck would squat significantly under load, especially while towing or carrying heavier cargo.

Like many truck owners, Matthew wanted a solution that would improve support under load without negatively affecting the unloaded ride quality of the truck.

"The truck felt less stable and didn’t handle as confidently when loaded down.

Prior to installing the Air Lift 1000 system on my Raptor, I experienced significant rear sag anytime I towed my boat or carried heavy loads in the bed,” said Olson.

The Solution: Adjustable Air Support

A Visible Difference

With the bed fully loaded, the improvement in vehicle posture is immediately noticeable.

Before Air Lift, heavy loads caused the rear of the truck to sag noticeably, affecting both ride height and handling feel. After installation, the truck remains level and controlled even under demanding loads.

Improved Control Under Load

According to Matthew, the biggest difference was how normal the truck continued to feel once it was loaded.

“The biggest difference I noticed was how well the Air Lift 1000 kept the rear of the truck level when towing or carrying heavy loads,” he said. “It completely eliminated the rear sag that I was dealing with before and kept the ‘feel’ of the truck normal.”

That improved support translated directly into better handling and confidence behind the wheel.

“When loaded and aired up, the truck feels much more controlled with very little bounce over large bumps,” Olson explained.

“The ride height stays level without sagging, and the handling feels almost the same as when the truck is unloaded, with no sway or loose steering feel.”

Built for Real-World Use

One of the biggest advantages of adjustable air support is the ability to adapt the truck to changing conditions.

Whether towing a boat, hauling landscaping material, or loading up for a weekend trip, Matthew can quickly adjust the system to match the load while maintaining ride comfort and stability.

“The Air Lift 1000 system completely transformed my truck’s towing and hauling performance by eliminating rear sag, improving stability, and giving me confidence to carry heavy loads anytime without worrying about handling or ride quality.”

For truck owners who regularly tow or haul, maintaining proper ride height and control can make all the difference. For Matthew’s Raptor, Air Lift delivered exactly that.

AL 1000 installed on Raptor

Matthew installed the Air Lift 1000 air spring system along with the WirelessONE with EZ Mount onboard air compressor system, giving him the ability to quickly adjust air pressure depending on how the truck is being used.

When unloaded, he keeps the system at around 5 PSI with minimal change to the factory ride quality. When carrying heavier loads or towing, he can increase pressure to maintain ride height and improve stability.

That adjustability has made a major difference in everyday use.
