Load Control Systems

Compressor does not come on when the inflate button is pushed.

CAUSEACTION
Wired incorrectly. Review wiring per installation guide.
Blown fuse. Replace fuse.
Faulty compressor. Connect directly to battery through fused wire to verify that it isn’t a wiring problem.
Call Tech Support at 1-800-248-0892, ext 2 if compressor is faulty or the actions do not work

Gauges are not accurate to a tire gauge or other gauge.

No problem. Expect a difference of 10%. Scale is intended as a reference only. Ride and handling is the measure for correct pressure.

Compressor comes on, but pressure does not build.

CAUSEACTION
Air line not attached to air bags, loose air line, or leak in system. Trace all air lines and observe connections for faults. Leak check.
Faulty compressor. Connect directly to battery through fused wire to verify that it isn’t a wiring problem.
Call Tech Support at 1-800-248-0892, ext 2 if compressor is faulty or the actions do not work

Load Controller II & Airtight Systems

Compressor comes on by itself and will not shut off by itself.

Fits open coil springs, front or rear.

Load Controller I Systems

Push switch to left and air does not go into the correct gauge or air bag.

Air Bags with No Compressor Systems

Horizontal cut in the side of the air bag. Bag leaks.

CAUSEACTION
Air bag bottomed out. Rubber flex member was pinched between two ends of air bag. Insufficient pressure in air bags for load. Replace air bag and increase pressure. Work your way down to desired result. For motorhomes, start at 100 psi.
Air bag bottomed out. Air bag is suspension limiter in compression. Add or adjust jounce bumper for full contact before air bag bottoms out, especially for 4WD vehicles.
#1 cause of air bag mutilation is insufficient pressure for load or use. Consider adding a on-board air compressor system for convenient air pressure adjustment.
Insufficient pressure in air bags for amount of suspension travel. Must increase pressure when more suspension travel is needed.

Other cut on air bag.

CAUSEACTION
Road Debris Replace air bag.
Insufficient clearance around air bag and is cut by object attached to vehicle. Move object out of the path of the air bag. Must have a minimum of 1/2″ clearance around bag. Replace air bag.
Flex member rolled into mounting hardware. Improperly installed. Correct the installation and replace the air bag.

Rub mark on air bag. Bag leaks.

CAUSEACTION
Road Debris Replace air bag.
Insufficient clearance around air bag. Check for alignment and adjustment of air bag to frame or tire. Re-adjust away from frame or tire. Also check for clearance to brake cable, etc.
Some kits call for a minimum clearance between frame and tire. Check installation guide.
Call Tech Support at 1-800-248-0892.

Air bag is melted.

CAUSEACTION
Not shielded from exhaust system. Possible incorrect installation. Install heat shield kit. Replace air bag. Call Tech Support for heat shield kit.

Air Spring will not inflate.

CAUSEACTION
Air is leaking out too fast due to a massive leak. Make sure all air line connections are ok especially at air bag fitting.
Inspect entire length of air line for damage or melted air lines. Replace as necessary.
Check air bag for massive leak or hole.
Call Tech Support at 1-800-248-0892 if the actions do not work.

Air spring will not hold air (more then 2-3 psi/week).

CAUSEACTION
Check to make sure the schrader valve is tight.

Flex member is pulled away form the crimp.

CAUSEACTION
Ends of air bag are not parallel causing uneven stress in extension. Poor installation. Adjust air bag. Replace air bag.
Possible defective air bag. Call Tech Support at 1-800-248-0892.
Over-extended air bag during rough driving. Add suspension limiting straps if necessary.

System Leaks

Leak in system.

CAUSEACTION
Hose may be crimp, pinched, kinked, cut, or burst. Connections may not be secure, etc. If there is a small leak in the air system, it may be necessary to use a spray bottle with a water and soap solution to find it.

Leak at the air line fitting.

CAUSEACTION
Air line fitting not tight enough. Tighten air fitting 1/4 to 1/2 more turns.
A piece of air line which has not been cut off square at the end. Remove air pressure from system and re-cut air line tube and ensure it has a square end.
Air line is not completely pushed in. Push air line into the air fitting so it is secure.
Loose valve core in air fitting. Tighten valve core

Attachments

Brackets are bent or broken, and or bracket to frame bolts are broken.

CAUSEACTION
Air bag bottomed out from low pressure. Increase pressure, replace or repair brackets and/or bolts. Use Grade 8 bolts only.
Air bag bottomed out from maximum suspension travel in compression. Remove air pressure from system and re-cut air line tube and ensure it has a square end.
Air bag bottomed out due to incorrect installation. Brackets are too close. Review installation guide or call Tech Support for correct mounting height. Adjust installation as necessary.

Lower bracket has moved away from the axle towards the end of the leaf spring.

CAUSEACTION
Suspension over-travel which causes “hook” of lower bracket to bend up and detaches it from axle U-bolt or spring retainer. Over-travel could be the result of incorrect installation. See section on four wheel driving. Review installation guide or call Tech Support for correct mounting height. Adjust installation as necessary. Add suspension limiting straps if necessary to limit travel in extension. R&R lower bracket as necessary.
